Everything about booking immigration appointments in Spain.
Keep trying at different times of day, widen your date range and the offices you accept, and consider a round-the-clock monitoring service like Citapre that checks the system constantly and messages you on WhatsApp as soon as a slot opens.
Demand far exceeds the number of slots released, bots and resellers take appointments, the infrastructure is insufficient, and a backlog of cases has built up from previous years.
There is no fixed official schedule — offices release slots irregularly, often first thing in the morning or after cancellations. That is why constant monitoring works better than checking once.
Early morning (before 08:00) and just after midnight tend to see the most movement, although it varies by province and office.
Yes. Most immigration procedures let you book with your NIE/passport and personal details, without Cl@ve, although some fully digital procedures do require it.
The NIE is your foreigner identification number (a number). The TIE is the physical card that proves your legal residence in Spain, and it has that NIE printed on it.
Your passport and a photocopy, the favourable decision on your authorisation, proof of payment of the fee (where applicable) and the appointment confirmation.
Usually 30 to 45 days after the fingerprint appointment, although it varies by province and by how busy the office is.
The amount depends on the procedure (first card, renewal or duplicate), normally between €12 and €20. It is paid using form 790 code 012 before the appointment.
The EX-17 is available on the Ministry of the Interior website or the Sede Electrónica, in the section with immigration application forms.
The official appointment itself is free — the government system does not charge to book it. Services like Citapre charge for the monitoring and management work, not for the appointment, and only if one is secured.
Yes. You are not paying for the appointment itself (which remains free) but for the searching and management service. Citapre is not a law firm and has no official connection with the Government.
1) Choose your procedure and province. 2) Gather your documents (NIE/passport, decision letter). 3) Enter the appointment system or use a monitoring service. 4) Confirm the appointment and keep the confirmation.
Open the appointment portal, select your province, choose 'POLICÍA – TOMA DE HUELLAS', enter your NIE and personal details, and select an available slot if there is one.
Enter your personal details, the type of procedure (initial, renewal or duplicate), your NIE, your address in Spain, and sign it. It is submitted together with the form 790 payment receipt.
A favourable decision on your residence or work authorisation means you can already request an appointment for fingerprints and issuance of the TIE.
It depends on your situation: fingerprints/TIE for a new card or renewal, asylum for international protection, arraigo for regularisation, NIE for assignment of an identification number.
Non-residents request the NIE at a police station (the 'CERTIFICADOS Y ASIGNACIÓN DE NIE' procedure) or at a Spanish consulate if they are outside Spain, providing a passport and the reason for the application.
It is the registration of your address with the town hall (Padrón Municipal). It is required for almost every immigration procedure: NIE, TIE, arraigo, healthcare card, school places and social support.
Passport/NIE/TIE, the town hall form, and proof of housing: a rental contract, authorisation from the registered tenant if you live with someone, or the deed if you own the property. Each town hall may ask for something slightly different.
In many large cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia) yes — you book online on the town hall website. In smaller municipalities you can sometimes go directly.
The volante is a quick, simple receipt. The certificado is the official stamped document, normally the one immigration requires, and it usually takes 1 to 5 days.
Yes. For most procedures (especially TIE and arraigo social) a recent padrón certificate is requested, normally from the last 3 months.
Yes. If you live with someone who is already registered, that person can authorise your registration by providing their DNI/NIE and the property's contract or deed.
Registering your address with the town hall. Required for NIE, TIE, arraigo, healthcare and school.
Immigration offices usually ask for a certificate from the last 3 months. Once you have your padrón registration, we help you with your fingerprint, NIE or arraigo appointment.
